Would we use the
workload driver “client did not speak English - Interpreter required” when a
staff member translates a letter?
Answer:
Probably not. First, recall the definition of a workload driver: “a characteristic of the case necessary to
explain resource requirements that is not otherwise associated with time
entered in defenderData.” In this example, the time spent on the task would be
captured under Task Code FORN01 (9.1 Interpret and Translate). This task code is available to any staff member
in the Office who performs this work.
However, if a Spanish-speaking AFPD is talking with the client in
Spanish, it may be more accurate to report as COMM02 (client communication)
even though interpreting is going on..
