FAQ: Time needed to keep time? (And billing to Legal Reading)

Question:
How long will it take me to record my time in the new defenderData each day?

Answer:
Plan on at least a half hour each day in the beginning.  You will become more efficient over time.  Remember: you should absolutely record the time you spend on timekeeping every day. The task code for timekeeping is TIME.

On a related note, all attorneys and most legal staff spend part of their day keeping abreast of legal reading. For attorneys, this legal reading is a professional requirement and necessary to provide effective assistance. Time spent on legal reading can and should be billed to PROF01 5.1, Pursue In-House Professional Development.  Examples of legal reading include reviewing slip opinions, case summaries sent to the defense community, updates from the Sentencing Resource Counsel, legal blogs, and legal periodicals.

For attorneys, every daily timesheet should have billings to both TIME, and we anticipate that almost every timesheet will have billings to PROF01.
